I recently filled a questionnaire and was turned down for my beliefs as Mr. Scully called them on his refusal to sell me a bullmastiff pup. My husband is well off and I stay at home we live in the country my house is 5700 sq ft. with 5 1/2 acres The pup would be an inside dog but we would be doing some breeding so we are building a barn heated and cooled for that and in case we happen to be out they would have shelter in bad weather. And I wouldn't Co- Own a show dog. Who wouldn't sell a dog to someone who can afford them and love them as family is beyond me! So if you get involved with him good luck with his questionnaire...he even asks for your license number.
I too filled out the five page questionnaire. It was refreshing to find a breeder who is so concerned about their puppies that they would protect them that much. I co-owned my girl until I could prove I got her spayed. Personaly, I feel that if you have no intensions of breeding descriminantly with the intent of improving the breed (health, confirmation, ect) then you have no business breeding. I will not breed a dog that does not have the AKC seal of approval (championship). Also, Tony required that you relinquish the dog to HIM if you ever cannot provide their forever home. Refreshing. Most breeders take your money and you never seem them again! Kudos to Tony for being a responsible breeder of merit.
Donna I'm sorry to hear you were so disapointed. However, I have to say from what you wrote I also would not have sold you a dog. You mentioned wanting to breed the dog but that you would not be showing it. For what reason would you need to breed? I don't sell anything with full registration that does not have to be spayed unless I am comfortable that the home will not only show/finish the dog but also have all the health testing necessary to ensure the dog should be bred in the first place. Tony did the right thing here
This Blog was created for people to share their experiences with Bullmastiff breeders, give first time buyers added knowledge in their decision, and post questions to get answers.
